Projects & Service
Driven by a profound belief in the transformative power of education and cultural engagement, my mission as a scholar and educator extends well beyond the realm of research and academia. In my role as the Graduate Student Representative to the Spanish & Portuguese Department (2024-2025), I strive to advocate for the diverse needs and interests of my peers, ensuring that their voices are prominently represented in departmental decision-making processes. As the Founder, Director, and Editor of the academic journal ÍMPETU (2020-present), I have established a vital platform for emerging scholars to disseminate their research and foster critical scholarly dialogue. My leadership as President of the Graduate Student Association of “Literary Studies in Spanish” (2023-2024) has facilitated collaborative initiatives that enhance academic support and community among graduate students.
Moreover, my commitment to cultivating an equitable and inclusive academic environment is evident through my participation as a Committee Member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Graduate Student Advisory Committee (2023-2024), where I contribute to developing strategies aimed at enhancing diversity and inclusivity within our academic framework. I also served as Project Manager and Director of the “Metáfora: Art, Performance and Creative Workshops in Spanish” initiative (2022-2023), during which I presented, prepared, and organized a comprehensive year of workshops for undergraduate students. This initiative not only included writing and literary competition awards but also significantly fostered an appreciation for Hispanic culture among students and community members from diverse backgrounds around the globe.
Furthermore, I coordinated the I Congreso Internacional sobre el exilio republicano español at Rutgers University (2022), enriching academic discourse surrounding critical cultural issues of significance. My leadership experience is further evidenced by my tenure as President of Chapter Theta Delta of the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society Sigma Delta Pi (2020-2021) and my role as a Senator at the Graduate Student Council of Auburn University (2020-2021). Lastly, my unwavering commitment to the literary arts is exemplified by my direction of the I Jornadas de Poesía Contemporánea at the University of Cádiz (2019) and my presidency of the University Poetry Club “Poemarte” (2016-2019), wherein I endeavored to cultivate a profound appreciation for poetry and facilitate meaningful dialogues within the community.
